Haf\u0131za kayb\u0131 ile ba\u015flayan, zamanla ki\u015finin g\u00fcnl\u00fck ya\u015fam\u0131n\u0131 ba\u011f\u0131ms\u0131z s\u00fcrd\u00fcrememesine yol a\u00e7an bu hastal\u0131k, yaln\u0131zca bireyleri de\u011fil, aileleri ve sa\u011fl\u0131k sistemlerini de derinden etkilemektedir. D\u00fcnya genelinde bug\u00fcn yakla\u015f\u0131k 55\u201360 milyon insan demansla ya\u015famaktad\u0131r ve bu vakalar\u0131n b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00e7o\u011funlu\u011funu Alzheimer hastal\u0131\u011f\u0131 olu\u015fturmaktad\u0131r. Ya\u015fam s\u00fcresinin uzamas\u0131yla birlikte bu say\u0131n\u0131n \u00f6n\u00fcm\u00fczdeki on y\u0131llarda iki kat\u0131na \u00e7\u0131kmas\u0131 beklenmektedir. Bu nedenle Alzheimer yaln\u0131zca t\u0131bbi bir sorun de\u011fil, ayn\u0131 zamanda sosyal ve ekonomik boyutlar\u0131 olan k\u00fcresel bir halk sa\u011fl\u0131\u011f\u0131 meselesi olarak de\u011ferlendirilmektedir (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/dementia\">https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/dementia<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alzheimer hastal\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n tedavisinde uzun y\u0131llard\u0131r kullan\u0131lan ila\u00e7lar daha \u00e7ok belirtileri hafifletmeye y\u00f6neliktir. Donepezil, rivastigmin, galantamin ve memantin gibi ila\u00e7lar baz\u0131 hastalarda ge\u00e7ici bili\u015fsel iyile\u015fmeler sa\u011flayabilmektedir. Son y\u0131llarda amiloid protein birikimini hedefleyen yeni ila\u00e7lar geli\u015ftirilmi\u015f ve baz\u0131 umut verici sonu\u00e7lar elde edilmi\u015ftir. Bu nedenle bilim d\u00fcnyas\u0131, Alzheimer hastal\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 \u00f6nleyebilecek veya ilerlemesini yava\u015flatabilecek yeni biyolojik mekanizmalar \u00fczerinde yo\u011funla\u015fmaktad\u0131r.
